Your Role as Production Manager

Leading Your Team

You ensure that your team has the right information, materials, and resources to get to work every day. You take a proactive approach: before your team takes the next step, you’ve already made sure nothing stands in their way. You’re visible and approachable on the work floor—colleagues know where to find you, and you know what’s going on.

Cooperation and Coordination

You’re constantly coordinating—with the other foremen on the same yacht, with work planning, engineering, project management, and subcontractors—to ensure that all disciplines working on board at the same time, such as construction, engine room, electrical, deck, and interior, continue to work together seamlessly. In addition, you maintain order, cleanliness, and safety in your section of the ship and identify potential issues before they become problems.

What You Bring to the Table as a Production Manager

As a Production Manager, you bring calm and clarity, even when there’s a lot going on at once on the shop floor. You don’t need to be an expert in every field yourself, but you do understand how the different disciplines interact. You don’t wait around—you actively seek collaboration with your foremen, the other production managers, and the project team. You’re a good communicator and approachable. There’s no need for big words here: down-to-earth, practical, and rolling up your sleeves—that’s how we do things here.
